Always close, yet so far...

With a subject on the opposite end of my lens, I feel as though I’m retracing my steps through an old home I once knew. Every second along the path I’m being reunited with memories previously held with concrete remembrance. I don’t commonly photograph artists anymore, and as such it becomes clear every time that there is so much I used to know with some tighter precision. As I continued shooting, however, my grasp on finding the right frame and lighting began to loosen, and what resulted is something we both admitted in the shoot, as being more interesting. An art teacher once told me to lean into these inclinations, and with disregard for conventionality, I began to find my comfort zone.

Slow shutter methods have always been my winning recipe. Sometimes the winning formula seems forgotten, but in reality it’s always close to my chest, and my latest shoot with the wonderful and hard-working Brennan yet again proves that with beautiful results.
